So yah I've been out a while now. Kinda cool. Had the opportunity in serving in some great areas with some inspiring people. This week was one of those special times where we got to go to the LA temple to perform baptisms for Michelle Lee's ancestors. She's a recent convert of December and we've helped her along the way. It was pretty magical and the baptistry is SO BEAUTIFUL IN LA oh my goodness I love it. It was cool though because Elder Ujhely and I took family names as well so he baptized me as "Brother Pilling" And I baptized him as "Brother Ujhely" hahaha not elder. It was cool, we tagged along with the ward youth temple trip so we helped do baptisms and confirmations with them as well. We got up at 4:30 and were home before 11. Very cool to see Michelle baptized for her grandma and how special that was for her. She's eager to get more family to the temple . This all happened Saturday BTW.
Then Wednesday was a rainy day again... Ugh but we drove up to Solvang for our stake report meeting. Always a neat experience to meet with the president of the stake to coordinate efforts. But what's crazy is we went to Burger King. They have $1.10 10pc nuggets. They don't call them chicken nuggets because there probably isn't any chicken haha but since we have to feed ourselves I kinda eat junk now. Bummer. And Sister Nakken said there would be health benefits (too cheap to buy groceries. We have some carrots sometimes).
Thursday was a lesson day! We met with the Buso family, my personal favourite. It's David and Alica with 3 kids. Reanna, David Jr, and Roman. Oh I LOVE this family! Alica just gets it, she feels the spirit, David is totally into it. He has had a crazy life haha and wants to be a family guy. Pretty cool. And then the kids are getting into it as well. My fav fam in the mish maybe!! So cool. We also met with this kid but he was being a bit hard.
Then this week we also started teaching another fam. Gary, Francine, and Lacy. Oh they are prime. They were being taught over a year ago but the mom was deployed and it all fell out but now they are SO READY life has just set them up for this special opportunity. Oh man love them as well.
You know I'm getting transferred... I have kept it a secret all this time. I'm pretty... Well.... I'm upset. Now I'll tell you why. This area was in rough shape when I got here. The companionship before me didn't get a long AT ALL and so not much was going on. Well now there are 3 families receiving the gospel weekly if not more frequently, 2 part member families who have daughters just voiced they want to be baptized and take the missionary lessons, and a guy walked into church off the street and wants to learn more. So that's pretty awesome right! Elder Ujhely and I killed it this transfer and had a great time. And now I am getting sent off... Back to Thousand Oaks. Which I've already been in ahahha but this time we cover 2 wards. I'm upset to leave but I'm excited where I'm going. It's a bitter sweet moment. It'll be good and my companion is Elder Tanner and he's from Brooks AB so that's cool. You know in this mission we always leave our areas better than when we found them and that's why I'm sad to go. Maybe upset is the wrong word but I really feel I accomplished something here and now someone else reaps the reward. Hey a baptism for one is a baptism for all.
In TO there are 2 key people I started teaching there 8 months ago and they both come to church. Andy K, who is the biker and Mary H, someone we met with the last week. It'll be cool to help them again!
Well that's it folks. Crazy time. Love y'all. Maybe I'll get to see George in Moorpark again:)
