Seeing the fruits of our labor

Hey what's up? Yah good, OK cool.

This week Elder Pilling enjoys time with each companionship in the zone, enjoys a day in the Nard (oxnard), AND WITNESSES THE BAPTISM OF GEORGE GELINAS!

Man Tuesday was a great day! We had 4 lessons set up and all but 1 happened. 3 in a day is pretty killer haha and I'm really liking who we are teaching. We definitely need new new people but this one guy, Samson is just so fascinating. Years ago he was all caught up into selling drugs and was making bank but then his son got sick and he turned to God and flipped his life around. We were able to help him feel the spirit as we taught the Restoration. He totally gets it. We've learned that the people we teach with who have had history with drugs or gangs really understand priesthood authority. It's kinda crazy but there are multiple of these people. Really cool to see his mind turn on the light switch.

Also this week we set baptism goals with everyone in the zone. I've shared this before but it really is a special opportunity to follow the Spirit and make sure we are doing the Lord's will. We always kneel in prayer multiple times while we set these goals and how special it is to feel the spirit confirm to you that you have righteous desires. These goals were met on Thursday and Friday. Haven't met the whole zone goal yet so idk.

Then Friday night we cruised on down to Oxnard to stay with the assistants. I went with Elder Barzee again and what a blessing that was. He is pretty much amazing. We have really gotten close over the last few months as we've worked alongside them. We started the day with a game of 2 hand touch football. Let's just say I wasn't having it hahaha Elder Barzee threw a beautiful pass and I simply turned my shoulder toward the ball and it just hit me hahaha.  They were kinda upset lol.

Back to the day though, we had some pretty amazing contacts. You see, Oxnard is the most special place in the mission. It's probably one of the cheapest places to live, it's VERY diverse, and it's very humble. Most of the propel you talk to there don't even know what a missionary is. So it gives you the chance to mold this perfect presentation. Here is one of them.

Very tall Asian answers the door. Asian brother comes around the corner and we talked about his Subaru's. 6 month ago he skidded off a cliff and fell 50ft before slamming into a very large tree. We tried to see how he felt about life from that experience but he didn't and still doesn't believe in God. So we turned back to the very tall Asian who's name is Kenny. He's a Sr. In high school. We taught him that he can have a personal relationship with God.  He was kinda blown away at that. He'd never thought about it until then and when we taught him that relationship comes through prayer he was very anxious to rely and pray better. Hard to express what was said but is was definitely lead by the spirit.

The rest of the day was great and all that jazz.

Sunday was great, we had a couple we are trying to teach walk in for church!!! Hallelujah it was so great! He was a part of a gang until he had kids and he loved church. His wife also. They felt the spirit in the room and it was so cool. Very happy people. But after church we gathered with some other Missionaries and drove down to Thousand Oaks for George's baptism. Hopefully y'all remember him 😂 because he was the FIRST non member I ever taught!!! Man we taught him for 5 months while I was there and though we were new missionaries and didn't know what we were doing, we still enjoyed our time with him. We'll now that it's been 15 months he finally gave in to baptism. He did have a set day for the middle of March but I guess that didn't last long hahaha.  So it was very exciting to see so many members from that ward. Literally all my fav ones were there it was sweet. But isn't it interesting, I bet George was taught the restoration 10 times. Or more haha and over and over and over again he was taught until something gave in and he felt ready. It was beautiful and its kinda crazy he got baptized while I was still on my mission.  Pretty cool.

Well that was about it. Been a blast lately. Really enjoy it here. Been getting warmer and more beautiful which I appreciate:) I feel like I've had less and less to say the past few weeks because idk. Haha sorry about it tho.

Okay I just thought of something that's half funny. So with Elder Barzee, we decided that we are going to be aliens when we get home because the only thing we know what to talk about is the gospel and missionary things. Pretty convinced the transition is gonna be trash...well this was a weird add in. Oh well.

Love yah
