Well what is good? This week Elder Pilling works in rain... Again, enjoys 2 exchanges, and says Merry Christmas everywhere he goes not to mention helps Tom put up Christmas lights, helps Victoria and her fam set up Christmas decorations and last sets up the church Christmas tree... On pday.... Alone...
Hola hombre,
Yah busy week per usual. Sometimes I feel like a chicken with my head cut off... Oh well it seems to be working. I had the opportunity to work with Elder Holland from BC on Wednesday. He's actually from Penticton but he used to live in AB and went to EFY with Jackson Steed lol so that was funny. He's a great Elder and we were able to have some really cool conversations with some neat people. Isn't it just so fun tal king to people? You never know what you are going to get haha always a small piece of fear included in every contact.
Then we did normal stuff, laughed a lot, more normal stuff, and are just Killin it. We started teaching a gal named Anna, she is a member referral which means she has hope hahaha it was kinda sorta short but she is so ready for this. She works a ton though so hopefully it works out:) Plus her kids have shown a little interest as well.
OK literally let's talk about Victoria, if you will recall she's the lady that was SOOOOO SUPER EXCITED to see us on her doorstep anyway we are totally making things happen. She invited us over for CHRISTMAS!!!! She's not a member but her kids are legit and her husband also has a sweet bike and they are just so cool. So here's the miracle in all this. Pearson, the youngest daughter (14) picks up the Book of Mormon as we are decorating and starts reading ALOUD! She quickly observes this, "why does each verse start with And it came to pass" haha classic. But she really thought it was interesting and it was a cool Christmas miracle.
Saturday was another gooder. I went to Morrow Bay with Elder Hiatt and we had a blast. Lots of great lessons and Morrow Bay is right on the coast so it's beautiful. Anyway I gave him a haircut during dinner... Still trying to figure out what to do during that time so that was fun. Overall it was a blast. He's been out 1-1/2 transfers and is learning to love the service. Really was probably the highlight of the week.
To go along with that exchange and other things I have been impressed with Jacob 5 and 6. If you recall Jacob 5 it's all about the olive trees. Jacob 6 then shares the importance of it. Here's my thoughts:
6 Yea, today, if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts; for why will ye die?
7 For behold, after ye have been nourished by the good word of God all the day long, will ye bring forth evil fruit, that ye must be hewn down and cast into the fire?
This is lovely. We are taught correct principles and left to govern ourselves. That is a good line from Joseph Smith. Anyway we are nourished and then we are asked the ultimate question. "Will ye bring forth evil fruit?" What are you going to do with the changes that are happening in the church? What are you going to do with the need to elevate your spirituality? Are you going to 'graft' in the good word of God or are you going to keep your prideful self prideful and produce bad stuff? Of course the hope is to bring forth good fruit!!! I love good fruit cause it actually rates good so make it happen! And what's beautiful is that the scriptures show us how:
Jacob 11 O then, my beloved brethren, repent ye, and enter in at the strait gate, and continue in the way which is narrow, until ye shall obtain eternal life.
12 O be wise; what can I say more?
Look repent, be baptized and confirmed, and then continue forever bringing good things to everyone:) Love it. It's simple. This is the truth! We are even lead by a true prophet called of God into the latter ends of the latter days. The mission is the best and I hope you all have a very merry Christmas and Adios
