Work is an eternal principle

What is good people?? Hopefully something is good, always good things in life. So this week Elder Pilling goes on an exchange with his favourite missionary. Goes on another exchange with his second favourite missionary, goes to the smallest temple ever, and has a fat lesson.

So Tuesday was MLC again. They just keep coming faster and faster. It was pretty unReal. P. Nakken is literally the greatest. He shared some thoughts about urgency and they were very powerful. Very. He shared a pretty incredible story about a sand slide. I was thinking of how frantic it would be if someone were caught in an avalanche. Crazy but cool. Not only were his words on urgency great, but the whole time was very council-like. Everyone was sharing things and we all worked together. It was pretty cool. Here out my thoughts: I've always been taught that work is an eternal principle. I haven't really thought about what that all entails except for the mortal work here on earth. But last week President shared some thoughts from an old discourse by President Woodruff.

Joseph Smith taught the need for urgency in the work to the Prophet Wilford Woodruff in a vision one night. Joseph and President Woodruff were very communicative after Joseph's death. He appeared to Wiford many times and instructed him as to the affairs of the church. President Woodruff recalls one of the last encounters he had with Joseph Smith after the Martyrdom. He said:
"Joseph Smith continued visiting myself and others up to a certain time and then stopped. The last time I saw him was in heaven. He came and spoke to me. He said that he could not stop to talk to me because he was in a hurry. The next man I met was Father Smith; he couldn’t talk to me because he was in a hurry. I met a half a dozen brethren who held high positions on earth, and none of them could stop to talk with me because they were in a hurry. I was much astonished.
By and by I saw the Prophet again, and I got the privilege to ask him a question. “Now,” said I, “I want to know why you are in a hurry? I have been in a hurry all my life, but I expected my hurry would be over when I got into the Kingdom of heaven, if I ever did.”

Joseph said, “I will tell you, Brother Woodruff, every dispensation that has had the priesthood on earth and has gone into the celestial kingdom, has had a certain amount of work to do to prepare to go to earth with the Savior when He goes to reign on earth. Each dispensation has had ample time to do this work. We have not. We are the last dispensation and so much work has to be done and we need to be in a hurry in order to accomplish it.”
Of course that was satisfactory with me, but it was new doctrine to me. (Discourse delivered at Weber Stake Conference, Ogden, 19 October 1896; as published in Deseret News Weekly, vol. 53, no. 21.)

I know that's long and 90% of you won't read this all but that's pretty intense. And so with that email and then during MLC it just all hit me. Even when including the charge Jesus had to Peter, to feed His Sheep and to do it FOREVER. Nothing will be easy. Life certainly isn't easy. At times I'm like, "Oh yah let's move on life is gonna be great" and then other times I'm like, "Well maybe I'll stay on my mission forever and If I get kicked off I'll move to Northern Canada and live with the Inuit people." Pretty intense. But when you include it all, you see the urgency of eternal work. There is a lot to do. And no matter where we will be, we will be doing something. So you better get used to working hard haha

Moving on! We stayed over Tuesday and had exchanges with the assistants. I went with... ELDER GOODMAN oh my goodness it was the best. As soon as he was assigned to the position of assistant I emailed him and told him to reserve our exchange together lol. It was so good, just like the old days back in Moorpark. So that was very good, had some good thoughts and laughs.

Then Thursday we went to the Fresno temple. Like wow 90% of church buildings are bigger, it was pretty cool to see how efficient it was. We went with my fav members up here the Lewis's.

Fresno Temple

Friday we went to Paso Robles for district council. Had a good time and a good study with a companionship up there.

And finally Saturday was my exchange with Elder King. He's new here but he's awesome. We worked in Morro Bay and had 3 lessons and one of them was sooooooo long. Like 2 hrs and 20 mins long. Now I know what you're thinking, "Well that was a waste of time." False! It was so good. This guy is a genius and we taught like 1000 principles. It was really cool to see how we have what we have. The gospel is so great. It is so true and the principles taught in the gospel are surely the way back to our Heavenly Father.

We had a cool experience Sunday, a member couple (temple sealer at the LA temple) invited their neighbours over for a meal and 5 min thought on restoration. It was very powerful and they were very impressed. That's all it took. 5 mins. People in today's age are busy busy busy, but when you shoot 5 mins of pure spirit, it's all it takes. Look for opportunities to share short powerful statements.

Overall I've really thought about the restoration and about consecration. We have the restored gospel and we have to give our all to His will. That's the ultimate duo. I know this is true. There is a work to be done and only a lifetime to do it.

Also week 5 next week and then last week of the transfer. Cray. Oh and I got free shoes. They are legit handsome.
