Exact Obedience

Hola people of more white places than here.

This week Elder Pilling pets an emu, has a really great discussion with a Erika, anddddddddddd talks to a guy at a bar

So my first line may not be very good thing to say but it's true. So yes this was a great week because we had interviews with president Nakken, and Skyped the familia so it was very sweet:) What I love about interviews with President is while the companion is getting interviewed, we meet with Sister Nakken and she always has us try and teach her something. It varies from the restoration to the gospel etc but on Friday she wanted to know about the Plan of Salvation and what I love the most about it. I said enduring to the end. To me that is what the Plan of Salvation is all about. We are given the Atonement, the perfect example, and a plan with answers pertaining to the soul. So when I think about the Plan of Salvation, I think about enduring to the end. What's going to get us to the celestial kingdom? How are we going to do it? Now I want to tie this in with President Nelsons talk in GC about personal revelation. He states "Nothing opens the heavens quite like the combination of increased purity, exact obedience, earnest seeking, daily feasting on the words of Christ in the Book of Mormon, and regular time committed to temple and family history work".  So what I find interesting is that he said exact obedience. Not gonna lie, I thought that was just a term used for missionaries, but when you think about it that's dumb thinking haha. Exact Obedience to the gospel (or trying) is what shows our dedication/love to our Heavenly Father. We are exercising faith when we are obedient and God knows that, he gifts blessings to those who show their faith. This week I was focusing on seeking that revelation to be able to find effectively in our area. Through study, obedience, and meditation we had some cool experiences. We were walking down this road and we were asking ourselves what more can we do, where can we go? The spirit spoke that we should hang a right and walk in this apartment parking lot. We came across a nice guy who has a friend in Mexico and we chatted about the restoration and what we do as missionaries. He didn't want to commit to a book of Mormon but was thankful to accept a restoration pamphlet. It was not a harvest situation but God lead us there to talk to him. His name was Hispanic and I have no idea how to say it so yah. Anyway cool little experience. We had many of those throughout the week and met some very nice people. 2 of which are very solid souls (in my opinion).

I know I sometimes get in the motions of just doing what we are asked, but that is not always doing God's will. We need to seek him constantly to help us in all things. He is listening and guiding us where He needs us.

We also chatted with a family who have 2 emus. Yes emus. They are 90-120lbs and they can run up to 40mph. They are the closest thing to feathered dinosaurs and scientists believe they are some of the only dinosaurs who survived. This family was very excited to show them to us haha. What what's weird is they don't have an undercoat of feathers. It's just one feather down to the skin. Looks nasty.

In other great news, the great California Ventura mission broke the 100 new investigators in a week barrier. By I think 1 haha. So we are doing well together and are Increasing our souls every day.

I think I that's it folks, enjoy your week. Looks warm back home. It is very nice here:)

Love,
Elder Pilling
