It's gonna be 32 celcius Tuesday and Wednesday here. So pray I don't die of heat...not trying to rub it in cause I know Calgary is cold, but still.
We taught our skitz...phrnic guy and he's really great. He has a strong desire to change. He loves God and knows he has to change to be happier. We met with a bunch of less active members, just shared little messages about building faith in Christ. I also really like meeting with the members. The Walnut Canyon ward is pretty good. I had a snooze fest in sacrament meeting. This guy talked for over 25 mins...no good. I just looked around a lot... but then we sang in the choir!!!! yayayayaay I sang the bass lolol. It actually sounded great!!! And then during church our Bishop came to us and told us a less active wants to come back to church and take all the discussions again!!!! wahoooo so That'll be good to teach the lessons and help her understand. She's been less active for 5 yrs. She left when she was 16. I love teaching. I learned so much from meeting the needs of Andy and Laura from the MTC. I learned less from teaching or investigators at the MTC lol. But that's ok
YO, so yalls know the Rhoads rolls you get in the States? Like the frozen ones? Anyways here's what you do. You microwave them for like 5 seconds until soft, then you flatten them out then fry them on the pan, BOOM you get scones!!!! Delicious with jam or syrup AND IT'S DIRT CHEAP. I also like Eggos and the invention of the cow was fantastic, like seriously milk is just so good.
My comp and I set a goal to communicate with everyone we see and so far we've met some cool people who seemed interested.
Oh lol, let me share what happened Tuesday. It was mission walk day. It was a day everyone in the mission walked from 10-5 and the goal was to contact as much as possible. Not gonna lie, it was super slow for us. No one was home. We met a kid named Brandon who's going to college. He "isn't religious" but we talked about Christ and religion for a good 10 mins. He openly accepted a Book of Mormon and said he would be down to read it. We then saw him 2 other times that day and he was super friendly to us.
I'm just gonna share that the mish is great. So many cool things happen out here. I didn't think a mission was going to be as fun as it is. Now don't think I'm goofing offf!!!! Cause that'll tick me off. I'm working hard and even got a bunch of all black socks to be exactly obedient.... socks are my thing!!!...not any more so yah idk if this makes sense. My brain is fried. Emailing is stressful not gonna lie. But yah the mission is super cool. I love studying the scriptures daily. I encourage you ALL to read President Russell M. Nelsons talk "The Book of Mormon: what would your life be like without it?" I read that talk and I almost panicked when I thought about it. Like I seriously had to remind myself that I still have the Book of Mormon, in fact we have over 100 in our apartment! That book is amazing. Brother Miller from church yesterday said "the Nephites never read it, it was written for us." which makes sense and is true. I love reading it daily and as I try to learn it I gain confidence and a stronger love for this gospel.
A wise teacher once said, "I didn't memorize it, I learned it." That's what I'm working on, learning the scriptures.
Here's something else I love,
"Return with Honor...return to our home base with honor only after having expended all of our efforts to successfully complete every aspect of our mission." Elder Hales. It was in the magazine that came with the Ensign. You have got to love the apostles, they are amazing and truly called of God.
My address is 600 Spring Rd. Moorpark, CA 93021 Apartment number 114 so you can send neat things via mail if you'd like. If it gets here after December 19 tho I may not receive it because that's when transfers are. So send before that!!!
Love you all, I love my comp and I love the Book of Mormon, and I love Heavenly father and His son Jesus Christ. Just take 1 second to think about what they do for you and I bet your mind gets flooded real quick with things ahahaha
I'm happy and doing great! I'm getting tan, legit.
The ward mission leader sent us a message and this pic of him with Joe and his companion. |
